Metta Retreat Series II

The Buddha uttered the following: -
Hatred is not overcome by hatred,
It is overcome by love;
This is the eternal law!
~Dhammapada verse 5~

Metta is the quality of loving kindness or universal friendliness, which is best experienced rather than discussed technically. The practice of Metta overcomes the unwholesome mental states of hatred and anger and brings peace and happiness to one’s own mind. It is a pure state of mind that is beneficial to oneself and others, now and hereafter.

By practising Metta meditation, one gains strength and feelings of abundance, deep peace and happiness. This practice of metta meditation is flexible, versatile, universal and boundless. With this practice, one is able to overcome angry, violent and destructive mental states, while building up the required concentration for the development of insight. Metta also creates the condition for us to have a healthy relationship with every living being, so important for a happy family, society and the entire world.

The practice of Metta in an intensive manner for cultivating deep concentration can be done either on your own or in a group. In this coming retreat, you will have the opportunity to spend some time to perform Metta meditation and deepen your practice in the tranquil surroundings of mist covered hills and cool mountain breeze.

Experience the miracles of Metta meditation to heal oneself and other, and to share your love and joy with all sentient being all over the universe. The other benefits of metta are being able to sleep well, and having a pleasant encounter with all beings. The greatest of these benefits is that when we have Metta, our defilements such as ill will and anger are overcome.

Take this opportunity to develop
our concentration for our spiritual development,
radiate our love for our world;
share the greatness with all sentient beings,
and cultivate for the attainment as
with experience, one improves.
